Modes

Modes reflect which senses we best utilize to take in information

Visual

Prefer charts, maps (like this one!), symbols, diagrams. NOT movies, videos, or powerpoints.

Auditory

Prefer "heard or spoken" information. Do best with lectures, discussions. Sometimes talk to yourself.

Read/Write

Prefer information displayed as words. Do well with textbooks, websites, dictionaries, etc.

Kinesthetic

Prefer "real-life" representations. Do well with experiments, hands-on practice, and movies

Multimodal

We almost always have to use all four modes; the scores represent which we prefer

Context-Specific

Choose a single mode to fit the situation
