Nouns
Naming words are called nouns. Nouns can be the names of persons, places, animals and things.
Examples
"father", mother, etc.
Proper Nouns
Definition: A name used for an individual person, place, or organization, spelled with initial capital letters
Examples: Jack, Michigan, etc.

Definition: A common noun names general items.

Compound Nouns
Definition:Compound nouns are nouns made up of two or more words. Some compound nouns are hyphenated.
Examples: mother-in-law, paper-clip, toothbrush, etc.
Collective Nouns
Definition:A collective noun is the word used for a group of people or things.
Examples: team, jury, choir, etc.
Singular Nouns
Definition: When a noun means only one, it is said to be singular.
Examples: boy, chair, etc.
Plural Nouns
Definition: When a noun means more than one, it is said to be plural.
Example: books, churches, etc.
