Lankanam vs Upavasam
  • When body is sick then not eating is Lankanam
  • weekly once dont eat is fasting or Upavasam

Example: At work if you are sick put sick leave, if you are not sick yet put leave that is vacation

Upavasam is weekly cleansing and Lankanam is to fight infection.

 

We know to drink water when thirsty and eat food if hungry, and take rest if sick. Give body a chance to fight if sick by giving rest to the body.

First give body a chance to fight by doing Lankanam, if still stick then use alopathy medicine

  • eat only fruits
  • fruit juice

1. Organs Rest or get vaction for daily job
  • all organs rest or get vacation. Rest to the digestive system, pancrease dont need to produce insulin, nerves etc. (example: people need vaction for christmas, festivals etc). All organs recharge and its longitivity increases.    
2 Build Immunity or Resistance

 

  • Build Immunity or Resistance or Rakshana Vyavastha increases. Body can build a good war zone with good immunity by producing anti bodies that can fight againts germs. Body not only cleans but build anti bodies so next time if same germ enters it fights with them. There are millions of bacteria and virus that are minute everywhere and body becomes resistance to it as it produces antibodies that are recorded in the brain. Like solders in the war.  So even though these virus/bacteria goes into body via different way air water and food, body becomes strong. If resistance is low then any kind of germs can make the body sick.

Lankanam will clean the body.  If you dont eat and rest during that time the organs rest and do cleaning and reparing.    virsus or bac gets in the body, if you rest then body organs rest and do cleaning and reparing. During the fasting time - mouth smells rott, stools smell, sweat also smells because excretiion is done faster so impurities gets excreated faster. If you take medicines then it stops the excretion then they remain in the body.

For people who  dont fall sick at all no seasonal infections they are prone to cronic or bad disesases TB, Cancer.

Exercising the immunity by resting and fasting

If people are good singers if they dont practice then their singing ability is not good.

Similary the restistance power is improved with occational sickens by resting and fasting.  By taking medicine you are not exercising the body.
