Nervous System: Overview

Consists of the Central Nervous System (brain and spinal cord) and the Peripheral nervous system (everything else). PNS contains somatic nervous system (muscles and sense) and the automonic nervsous ssystem (heart, intestines, etc.). The ANS consists of sympathetic and parasympathetic response.
The Hindbrain
Consists of medulla, pons, cerebellum. The medulla, pons, the midbrain, and certain structures of the forebrain constitute the brainstem.

The Brain: Overview

The Forebrain
Consists of the cerebral cortex; which receives sensory information and responsible for thinking, perceiving, producing and understanding language
Midbrain
Important for sensory processing.
The Ventricles
Contain fluid that provides the buoyancy and cushioning for the brain.
