The Cerebral Cortex
The Occiptal Lobe
Main target for visual information (eyes, visual dreams, etc.)
Parietal Lobe
Receives sensations from touch receptors muscle-stretch receptors, and joint receptors.
Works in conjunction with other sections of the brain by passing info about eye, head, body positions to other sections.
Ex. flashes of light
Temporal Lobe
Primary cortical target for auditory information.
Understanding Spoken language
Complex aspects of vision: hallucinations
Frontal Lobes
Includes the precentral gyrus, which controls fine movements.
Also includes the prefrontal cortex, which contributes to memories of recent stimuli and planning of movements
Involved in decision making, problem solving, planning
