Associated with Texting While Driving
  • Texting while driving = death
  • Even worse than talking
  • 11 teens a day die b/c of texting while driving
  • Focus on screen for 5-8 sec, like closing eyes for 5-8 sec.

Causes Distracted Driving

  • Talking on the phone reduced your alertness to one of a 70 year old
  • Causes driver to not pay attention to road
  • More engaged in conversation than driving
One of the main causes of accidents
  • 1 in 20 accidents = cell phones
  • Not focused on the road
  • Up there with DUI and speeding

Thesis

There should be a law prohibiting drivers from using cell phones while driving.

Counter Arguement

Although people believe that many other things also distract driver (kids, food, music, ect.) Think its pointless to outlaw one of them. Theyre wrong, more accidents come out of cell phone use while driving than any of these other distractions. If what they have to say is so important, pull over and say it.

Conclusion

The idea of a law prohibiting drivers from cell phone usage while on the  road is a good one. It would prevent horrible things, like death and accidents. With just one skipped call or taken later, lives will be saved and continued.
